Campbellford – Thurs., April 13, 2023 - There’s a new doctor in town and his arrival last Thursday is already creating excitement for those people who don’t have a physician, and there are thousands.
His name is Dr. Will Marcoux and he has joined the staff of the Trent Hills Medical Clinic, at the Trent Hills Pharmacy, located across from the hospital. The clinic opened about five years ago and has had a virtual doctor available. Now the clinic has added the services of a doctor to their team.
Dr. Marcoux recently retired from the Oshawa clinic after 30 years of practice. He received his training at Western University and spent the first 15 years of his career working at Lady Minto Hospital in Cochrane.
He has been living in Campbellford for the past 10 years and is looking forward to helping patients here who are without a family doctor.
Trent Hills Now spoke with Emily Carey at the clinic. She is a medical assistant and office manager. She is also a phlebotomist, so they can do bloodwork at the clinic too.
“We will still be doing telemedicine so patients will still have that option,” she explained.
“Community healthcare is so fractured and there’s so many doctors that have left here… they’re retiring but we need to fill this gap and make sure we catch all those people without a doctor,” she added. People from not just Trent Hills but from places nearby such as Belleville have been asking to see the doctor.
Dr. Marcoux began treating patients last Thursday and word of mouth along with a Facebook post on clinic’s page has resulted in plenty of people wanting to book an appointment.
“We were trying to do a little bit of a soft start…so we were trying to kind of ease everybody into it and now that we have our toe in the water, now it’s time to jump in,” said Carey with enthusiasm, knowing the exclusive she offered to Trent Hills Now will generate many more patients.
Dr. Marcoux will be working Monday through Friday.
“He is a General Practitioner (GP) so he sees everything from colds and flu, you know, right up to sending out consults,” explained Carey.
To book an appointment please call 705-653-0404, extension 2.
People may also just drop into the clinic to make an appointment.
