St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Warkworth hosts a presentation on Truth and Reconciliation.

Warkworth Town Hall Centre for the Arts
WHERE: Warkworth Town Hall Centre for the Arts, 40 Main Street
WHEN: Wed., March 1, from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
In response to the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC), St. Jerome’s Church welcomes Chief Dave Mowat of Alderville First Nation to bring the lessons of the TRC to a local audience.
Chief Mowat’s knowledge of local Indigenous history is extensive and this history merits our acknowledgement and contemplation. Chief Dave Mowat was a student of Justice Murray Sinclair during the period Justice Sinclair was adjunct professor of Law in the Department of Native Studies at the University of Manitoba. Justice Sinclair was Manitoba’s first, and Canada’s second, Indigenous judge, and Chair of the TRC.
Seating capacity is limited, so if you are interested in joining your neighbours in learning about the history of Alderville First Nation, please reserve a seat at the presentation by sending an email to: [email protected].
Also include in your email any particular question you’d like Chief Mowat to address. He will try to answer as many pre-submitted questions as possible.
Our inspiration: “…true reconciliation is a second chance at building a mutually respectful relationship” Wab Kinew, Truth and Reconciliation Commission Honorary Witness (2012).
Admission is free.
