Campbellford – Wed., Oct. 26, 2022 - There’s a new vehicle detailer in town and she has opened her business at 246 Front St. North in Campbellford.

The owner, Victoria Hutchinson, told Trent Hills Now, the new business, McLaren Auto Detailing, “started as a mobile detailing business where we travel out to people’s homes to clean the vehicles,” adding, “opening a shop in Campbellford means we can continue offering that service throughout the winter months and on bad weather days.”

Hutchinson is doing this on her own with the support of her fiancé Josh McLaren.

Moving here from Peterborough in 2020, Hutchinson says, “It started off as a hobby. My brother and I were really into cars growing up. And my uncle kind of got me into cars.”

She explained some of what happens during the detailing process. More details can be found on the business website.
“We first take the before pictures of the vehicle, and then we start off by vacuuming the entire interior, under the seats, behind the seats, wherever there’s carpet, upholstery etc. And then we clean those carpets and the upholstery. Then if there are cloth seats, we clean those with a carpet extractor as well. And then if they are not cloth seats, we clean with leather brushes and then polish to protect them. We move on to the doors, the windows, the mirrors and so on.”

A wax is put on the vehicle after if the owner wants it.

Hutchinson noted the job can take several hours.

“We also offer paint correction which is using a polisher and decontamination of the paint chemically and physically, removing anything that may have become embedded in the paint like sand, anything your car picks up off the road, then we rewash it and then we take our polisher and use different levels of cutting compounds and polishing pads…we go over the car many times,” she explained.

For Hutchinson the business is a chance to be her own boss.

“I really wanted to be able to continue being a stay-at-home mom with my son,” she said, so her son William, who is 15 months old, can be found at the shop enjoying being near mom every day.

In conclusion Hutchinson said, “I’m super happy about this. It’s bigger than I could have ever imagined. And now, I want to say I couldn’t be happier opening it up in Campbellford where I live.”
