Funds will be used to purchase new sound equipment and much more
Campbellford - Tues., Oct. 11, 2022 - Last Wednesday, as the Aron Theatre Co-op launched its TIFF movie series with the Canadian Indigenous film, ‘Run Woman Run’, local MPP David Piccini officially congratulated the group on what’s happened since it received a $29,500 Resilient Communities Fund grant earlier this year from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The Resilient Communities Fund grant program was developed to help non-profits rebuild and recover from the impacts of COVID-19.
“The Aron Theatre Co-op is a staple of the Campbellford community, and I am proud that our government is supporting the theater through the Resilient Communities Fund,” said MPP Piccini. “This grant builds on previous funding from Ontario to ensure that the Aron Theatre can continue to provide affordable entertainment to people in the area for years to come.”
Funds from the grant are being used to purchasing new sound equipment, as well as a rigging system and stands for stage lighting, purchasing fire retardant theatre entrance drapes that will help reduce the level of noise entering the theatre from the lobby area. In addition, Aron Theatre is using the grant to purchase furniture and materials for a community meeting and events room.
“As a purpose-built cinema, we continue to show current Hollywood movies, and with increasing competition from streaming services, and growing demand from people in our community, we are also offering more live events. Concerts and other events require professional sound and lighting equipment, and this grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, has provided us with the opportunity to offer live events,” said Russ Christianson, General Manager of the Aron Theatre Co-op.
Tickets for the TIFF movie series are available at the special events page on the Aron Theatre Co-op website.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) mission is to build healthy and vibrant communities across Ontario. As an agency of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations, last year, OTF invested nearly $209M into 2,042 community projects and partnerships, which included funding for the Government of Ontario’s Community Building Fund. Since 2020, OTF has supported Ontario’s economic recovery by helping non-profit organizations rebuild and recover from the impacts of COVID-19.
