Wardens Present Priorities at AMO 2022 Conference

Eastern Ontario - The Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus (EOWC) came together to meet with provincial Ministers, Members of Provincial Parliament, and municipal elected officials and staff from across Ontario at the AMO 2022 Conference in the City of Ottawa from Aug. 14 to 17, 2022.

As this was the first in-person AMO conference since 2019, the EOWC participated in three ministry delegation meetings to strongly advocate for strategic priorities including:

  • Affordable and Attainable Housing
  • Ontario Health Teams’ Governance and Structure
  • Health Care Human Resources / Physician Recruitment

The EOWC met with Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Steve Clark; Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, Sylvia Jones; and Minister of Colleges and Universities, Jill Dunlop. The EOWC also met with Members of Provincial Parliament, Ric Bresee, Nolan Quinn and John Jordan. In addition to the above priorities, the EOWC continues to advocate for past priorities that remain relevant including long-term care funding, community paramedicine, and COVID-19 municipal recovery.

“The EOWC was keen and ready to join over 2,300 delegates at the 2022 AMO Conference in Ottawa and connect directly with provincial representatives. The Caucus is proud of our strong track record around building relationships, doing our homework, and moving priorities forward for our members and residents. The conference was an opportunity for the EOWC to capitalize on advocacy and continue to make progress forward for rural eastern Ontario” stated EOWC Chair Robinson.
