The Edville Gazette On Unbearable Intrusions

Bear caught on Cobourg security cam

Article by Missy Blingpunk

COBOURG—In the wee hours of August 13, security cameras installed at Chapel and College to detect the criminal element discovered instead a black bear prowling around and getting up to no good.

At one point the bear walked right through the camera frame, unabashedly, signalling to local authorities that bears are becoming more brazen than ever.

Sissy Bruin, lead counsel for the British lobby group Bears for Berries (B4B), told the Gazette that Canadian bears “are just sick and tired of being surveilled everywhere they go, aren’t they?” She plans to take up the issue with her old friend Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault, who was once arrested for scaling a nuclear plant and hanging a B4B banner across the cooling tower.

“I intend to remind him of all of the international covenants on the privacy rights of bears to which Canada is a signatory,” she said. “This abuse has to stop.”
