County Purchased Home For Individuals Experiencing Homelessness
Revised Budget for the Construction Project is $560,000
Campbellford - Northumberland County purchased a former bed and breakfast in Dec. 2021, located at 152 Cockburn Street, Campbellford using provincial funding, with the intention of retrofitting the property to be a suitable asset for use as supportive housing.
Throughout the first two quarters of 2022, County staff have been working with an architecture and engineering firm to complete building drawings for the extensive retrofits required to the building.
It is anticipated that in the third quarter of 2022, County staff will initiate the procurement process to seek community agencies interested in providing supportive services within this house, with operations beginning upon the conclusion of construction in April 2023.
Where feasible, this location will be prioritized for agencies supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and on the By-Name List.
Following a determination that the original construction budget of $350,000 is no longer a realistic reflection of the cost of construction, Council today approved a revised budget of $560,000 for this construction project.
