Dartford - Tues., July 26, 2022 - The rehabilitation of Dartford Bridge on County Road 24 in Trent Hills has been completed. In a media release Northumberland County noted the two-lane roadway and rebuilt bridge have re-opened.
The County retained the services of Willis Kerr Contracting Ltd. to complete the rehabilitation of the Dartford Bridge which is located on County Road 24, 1.7km West of County Rd. 25 in the Village of Dartford.
HP Engineering Inc. developed design details for the rehabilitation and assisted the County with on-site inspection of the work as it progressed.
This construction work consisted of rehabilitation work on the south side of the bridge.
The work involved an east-bound lane closure, using temporary traffic signals to control the flow of traffic through the work areas. A single lane for through traffic was in place for the duration of the work.
This story of the bridge and the need to repair it goes back to the summer of 2019 when a Notice of Study for a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment was issued by the County. The work did not begin until May of this year due to the pandemic.
The completion of the bridge work is slightly ahead of schedule. It had been anticipated it would be completed by August.
