Two New Board Members/Three New Community Members

June 27, 2022 – Campbellford Memorial Hospital (CMH) recently welcomed two new members to their Board of Directors and three new community member representatives to serve on their Board Committees.

The CMH Board is accountable to the community and oversees the hospital’s mission, vision and values. The Board is also responsible for ensuring the hospital meets the health care needs of the community, effectively using the resources available to provide quality service and care. Each new member strengthens the board with backgrounds in health care, finance and governance.

The two new board members are:

Glen Wood

Glen Wood – Glen has a wealth of board experience in the health care sector having previously served as board chair for St. Joseph’s at Fleming in Peterborough, the Catholic Health Sponsors of Ontario, and Providence Care Kingston. Glen has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Queens University and spent more than 40 years working for DuPont Canada.

Margaret Carter

Margaret Carter – Margaret has spent her career working in a number of health care settings including the West Park Hospital in Toronto, McMaster University Medical Centre in Hamilton and the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria. Margaret has also worked for the Ontario Ministry of Health, the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario, and recently retired as the Executive Director of the Ontario Dental Hygienists’ Association.

The three new community members to serve on board committees are:

Sandra Simon – Sandra is an experienced financial advisor having spent more than 20 years managing asset portfolios in excess of $10 million.

Claire Robertson – Claire has worked in the health care field for more than 35 years and has held senior financial positions at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, and the Hopital Montfort in Ottawa.

Jane Lakatos – Jane is an accountant by trade and owned her own financial services company for more than a decade.

Kevin Huestis, Chair of the Board, welcomed the new board and community members at the Annual General Meeting held on June 22 at the Campbellford Rotary Hall. It was the first time the annual meeting had been held in person since 2019.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the experience each of these community leaders brings to our board,” commented Huestis, “their backgrounds in healthcare, leadership and financial management will serve CMH well as we transition to a post-pandemic world and work to redevelop the hospital as part of a new campus of care.”

The CMH board also acknowledged the commitment of outgoing board member Karen MacGinnis. Karen served on the board for 9 years, and most recently was chair of the board’s governance committee.
