Grave Marking Ceremonies a First for Northumberland Cemeteries

Northumberland - Canadian Fencible Reenacting Soldiers along with members of the United Empire Loyalist Association of Canada turned out in their historical finery at the Cramahe Hill Cemetery Saturday afternoon.
It was their third stop in their three-event day honouring the veterans of the War of 1812 and United Empire Loyalists (UELs). Earlier they held the same grave marking ceremony at the Warkworth Cemetery and the Stones Cemetery.
Trent Hills Mayor Bob Crate was among those at the Warkworth Cemetery ceremony.
Bill Russell, Regional Vice President of the United Empire Loyalists Association of Canada and the president of the Kawartha Branch UELAC, one of the organizers, a resident of Warkworth, led the ceremony.
Warkworth resident, Troy Easter assisted as well as David Smith who is a reenactor soldier.
Secretary Treasurer of the Cramahe Hill Cemetery Board, Charlene Orrell spoke for a few minutes during the event at Cramahe Hill Cemetery.. At the conclusion, members of the Lindsey Army Cadets learned about vintage firearms.
