Campbellford - Mon., May 30, 2022 - The car wash and BBQ held by the Trent Hills Fire Department at the EMS Based on Doxsee Ave. South in Campbellford, on Saturday, was a huge success.
Fire Chief Tim Blake said a total of $8,256 was raised in the day-long event. There were 221 vehicles washed by the firefighters and helpers.
All the money raised goes to the Trent Hills Disaster Relief Fund which is used to help victims of fires.
The Fire Chief Tim Blake was cooking burgers and hot dogs along with other firefighters and the chief’s wife Kim and other volunteers were serving and helping.
This important fundraiser has been cancelled for the past two years because of the pandemic so there were a lot of smiling faces as people got to see the new fire hall and support a good cause.
Trent Hills Now published a video of the event on Saturday and this is an update with photos submitted by a couple of readers for publication.

Editor’s Note: In previous coverage of the fundraiser by Trent Hills Now it was reported that the fund was started in 1989 after a fire in a building on the corner of Bridge Street across from Old Mill Park destroyed apartments.
“People started passing a hat around collecting money for the residents of the building,” said Blake. The next year the fire department held a broomball game against the police and raised about $800. Then in 1991 the barbecue and car wash was started.
