New Home For Humane Society Fur Clients

The Northumberland Humane Society is moving to a new location on 2363 Theatre Road (Formerly Shelter of Hope & Animal Services).

To accommodate the transition, the Humane Society will be closed from Monday, April 24 to May 1, reopening at the new location on Tuesday, May 2. The phone number will remain the same, but the service will need to be moved over.

“This is a big improvement for the Humane Society because it’s more space for the animals indoors and outdoors. We have two big fenced dog runs and a trail which allows us to walk the dogs. The building is newer and has potential to build an addition in case we need more space in the future. It will be an improvement for everybody- the animals and our staff, who are dedicated to the wellbeing of our sheltered animals.”

During the transitional period we will not be able to accept any surrendered animals and thank the public for your understanding and patience. In case of a stray dog or cat, please send an email to [email protected] and please provide your phone number and name. If you suspect an animal is being abused or neglected please contact animal welfare at 1-(833)-926-4625.

“We need to have our time to do an easy and good transition for the animals because it’s pretty stressful for them,” Venus said, noting there’s also a lot of items to transport during the move due to the longevity of the organization at the Ward Street building.

While contacts with local municipalities cover the costs for animal control, the Humane Society is non-profit and is dependent on financial and item donations, fundraisers and more.

The Northumberland Humane Society is a charitable organization, dedicated to protect and provide temporary shelter and comfort to all animals in need. The Humane Society supports and promotes the safe rehoming of abused, abandoned, and neglected animals.
